There are many questions from beginners. I have tried to create a sample system that incorporates basic and useful items.
This is an AFL for Chart, Scan, Backtest and Explore
The system for Buy/Sell is just off the top of the head as an example only.
Formula:
_SECTION_BEGIN("AFL Example");
/*
This is an attempt to provide a basic trading system AFL. The system is purely
imaginary
AND NOT provided as one that would make money. This is just to provide a guide
to learners
on the common components of writing AFL.

Thanks Graham, your AFL example gives a good over-view of what needs to be done, how and what the options are.

Hello Graham,
I am new to AB, having used MS for 10 yrs. AB is now my preferred charting program.
Your example is the proverbal "Answer to a ******* prayer"
Thank you for your effort.
I see you use add column to show up results
i am new here and like to show up results of a formula i use ass well, could you help me
i use a relative performance formula which shows up the relative results against the dow i don't know how to be able to have these results presented in a exploration.
