Introducing AFL Code Wizard

The AFL Code Wizard is a new add-on for AmiBroker. It allows creation of trading system formulas without ANY programming experience. The system creation is done using highly intuitive graphical interface. Now trading system creation is available to everyone. No programming, no cryptic blocks or diagrams! Just describe your system in plain English!

See how easy it is and check the AFL Code Wizard instructional video at: http://www.amibroker.com/video/amiwiz/AFLWiz1.html

The AFL Code Wizard is available for purchase for $49 one-time fee. Further upgrades are free. Click here to buy now.

You can download stand-alone trial version from: http://www.amibroker.com/bin/acw1000beta.exe (After running setup, double click on AFLWiz.exe inside the installation directory). Trial version REQUIRES AmiBroker 4.90 or higher.

For best results however we recommend using AmiBroker 4.95.0 BETA that features integration with AFL code wizard.

To run AFL Code wizard from AmiBroker 4.95 just select Analysis->AFL Code Wizard menu.

The trial version has all the functionality *including* export of auto-generated AFL formula to AmiBroker. The only missing feature in trial version of AFL Code wizard is saving the project in .awz format. Project files are only necessary if you want to save your creation for future modification with code wizard and sharing with other people in “wizard” format.

TWS 860.9 breaks compatiblity? Or… rather internal IB problem???

Following IB “tradition” new version 860.9 of TWS breaks compatiblity with existing 3rd party software.
It gives “invalid symbol” error in many cases.

The only TWS recommended version to use is 858.6 or earlier.

If you already upgraded to 860.9 you need to revert back to 858.6
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/download/tws40_install_prev.exe

General rule is NEVER upgrade TWS until we give OK that new version of TWS is OK,
as in the past there were many cases where TWS just broke compatiblity with their previous APIs
and things just stopped working without any warning.

Again: never update TWS until we say that new version is OK.

UPDATE July 5th, 2006:

Apparently there is no problem at all with TWS 860.9 but there is a problem with *SOME* IB accounts,
that behave strangly. A couple of users reported it and I have seen strange things happening on my own account (”invalid symbol” problem) but … it all fixed itself (or rather IB has changed something to fix that) and all TWS versions (including 860.9) work OK now. No changes in software but things stop and re-start to work. The only reason that comes to my mind is that IB is doing some changes on their servers and this is causing problems on *some* accounts.

UPDATE July 6th, 2006: THE PROBLEM IS NOW FIXED WITH UPDATED VERSION 1.6.6 OF IB PLUGIN

TWS fixed (858.6 or higher)

Update to previous post about TWS :
it seems that IB staff has fixed this problem as our recent tests show no problems with newest versions of TWS - 858.6 and higher.

Donate future development of IBController

As you know automated trading interface for AmiBroker is provided to everyone for free. You can just download it from http://www.amibroker.com/at/
Quite recently however someone asked me if there is an option to pay for IBController because he wanted to donate the development. So for everyone who wants to donate for further development of IBController I have created a payment option ($100 one time fee) here:
https://usd.swreg.org/cgi-bin/s.cgi?s=1269&p=1269IBC&v=0&d=0&q=1&c=USD

If you use IBController extensively and want to donate for further development you may consider spending $100 for it. Note that it is considered strictly a donation and you won’t receive any extras in return except warm feeling that you helped the development of the software you are using and guarantee that if ever IBController changes its status (i.e. from free software to commercial one), you will have license to use it and receive free upgrades.

TWS 858.4 is broken

The most recent TWS (858.4) has some serious issues, see:
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/discus/messages/2/34933.html?1145996463
and
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/discus/messages/2/34913.html?1146089324

So don’t install it. If you already upgraded to TWS 858 you should install previous version 857 from IB download page:
http://www.interactivebrokers.com/cgi-bin/jtwsControl.pl?ib_entity=uk
scroll down to “standalone downloads - previous versions”.
